What To Expect

Your guides will show up, bright and early on your ships pier to give you a small group tour of a autumn coloured Bergen and its surroundings in a tour that is commenced by Minivans to access the areas where larger vehicles simply can't navigate. This means you will also see some of the secret spots, -normally available only to locals and single travelers.

After the pier pick-up we head out on the road for the mandatory city core views like the Fløibanen funicular, and we travel up the narrow cobblestone streets of Sandviken. As you go up the mountainside, the city harbour and your cruise ship is unveiled in all its beauty far below you.

After a intro to the city itself, it is time to move on to what most cruise tourists are not able to see: The Fjords surrounding the town. You will travel the largest floating bridge in Europe, before choosing to which way to go further based on your groups preferences.

1. Golden Circle - Fjords & Mountains As you pass the large white Nordhordland bridge, you aim into the far and deep end of the Osterfjord. A fjord that traditionally is the area of the people referred to as "Stril's". A "Stril" is a man who in one day could row to Bergen by boat, and this local name is still used to describe where your origin is. You make your way along the fjord side, and as you travel - you notice the fjord getting more and more narrow while spectacular steep mountains are like growing in the landscape. At the small village of Mo, you make a stop to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee, and to soak in the views that thrilled the Netflix producers to use it for the TV Show "Innocents" that is airing this spring. After the break you make your way into the area that produce a large amount of the west coat hydroelectric power.

2. Golden Circle - Coast & Fjords inlets The coast is different and you make your way along the small farms area of Radøy in the Nordhordland region. Here you see how history have unveiled and where people lived hand to mouth in older times. The views are a contrast to what you see half a hour later, when you stop at the modern Mongstad Oil Refinery. Here you will have a splendid overview of how the economy has developed since 1969 when Norwegians so to say, won the lottery. And here oil is processed and sent of to all corners of the world. A modern facility - but built into nature in a way that many guests find thrilling. Did you know that the Mongstad Refinery has its own tribe of deer that actually lives alongside the petrochemical pipes? It has, and shows the close bond between nature and modern life.
